Casting Cares of Life on God

Why won’t the hurt go away?

How often do you find yourself asking that question? Maybe it’s more often than you wish. Maybe it’s daily….

Problems of the heart delve deeper than other hurts. And when you find yourself entangled in emotional pain, it can be a spiritual battle to live out.

For some, it’s a wrong that’s been done to them. For others, it’s a love unrequited. Or, the sting of that one goal they strived for but never achieved. It torments you in the night, brings on tears when you’re alone.

God holds out His arms to everyone who’s hurting, just waiting for us to run into them. “Cast all your care upon him; for he cares for you,” 1 Peter 5:7 tells us. “The LORD is near to the brokenhearted & saves the crushed in spirit,” we’re assured in Psalm 34:18.

But one of my favorite portions of Scripture is Psalm 56, where David is crying out to God. In his desperation, he pleads, “Bottle my tears!” In other words, “Remember these tears I’ve cried God!”

I like to imagine He bottles our tears like sweet perfume, like expensive cologne. Our feelings, what we’re going through is that important to Him….
