Life Advice Should Come From the Wise!

Life Advice Should Come From the Wise!

If advice seems questionable, you probably shouldn’t take it….

The night before Easter I was Googling how to roll a croissant.😅 Seems like a simple thing, I know. But mine had historically been doughy in the middle when the outside was already browned.

As a fix, I’d tried loosely rolling them– thinking that more heat could reach the inside; but, ended up with something more crunchy than tender.

So, I found myself in the family room after everyone had gone to bed researching, “how to roll the perfect croissant.”

At once, I hit upon a YouTube video of a random lady chef whose instructions were to roll the dough tightly, beginning at the small end of the triangle.

I wasn’t convinced. It was different from how I’d ever seen one rolled. And, honestly, they weren’t real pretty. But, if they would be done throughout, I was willing to take her advice.

My youngest was helping prepare the Easter meal & when he saw me beginning to roll the croissants, he was taken aback and kinda giggled at me. “Aren’t you doing that backwards?” he poked.

So, it was decided we would each roll half of the croissants. I would follow the chef’s instructions, and he would do it “the right way.” Lol

Needless to say, my son’s croissants looked like masterpieces compared to mine.🤣

I’m glad the only consequence of biting on her poor advice was a few ugly-looking pieces of bread on the dinner table that day.

When it comes to “life advice,” it’s best taken from those whose example is seemly, whose walk is tested.

Proverbs 24:6 tells us that by wise counsel we can wage a successful fight, and that with a multitude of counsellors we find safety.

So, let’s seek out seasoned, Godly people who love us & share our problems with THEM. Not only will we feel relief in letting them help shoulder the burden; but, we’ll likely receive some wise words of advice and a prayer partner to boot.

Needless to say, I won’t be subscribing to that chef’s YouTube channel.😉 And come the next holiday dinner, I’m sure to have perfected my croissant rolling via some videos by Ina, Giada & other food experts who have a reputation of excellence….🥐
