You Never Need an Appointment....

Brenda Dillon

God has time for every single one of us.

With all the distractions I have in a day, that statement amazes me. If any attribute of God shows His miraculous power more, I’m not sure what it would be. I know I alone could monopolize His time a full twenty-four hours, seven days a week. (And probably do.)

There’s nothing more secure to me than the knowledge that regardless of the time of day or night, no matter how much I’ve tugged on His pant leg, God still looks at me and gives His undivided attention. That powerful gaze locks onto my eyes, He holds me close to His heart and really listens.

In life, we often set our buttress on family or success; then, find ourselves disappointed when we’re let down by someone who doesn’t understand or is straight up uninterested in our struggle, when our success can’t overshadow the struggle. We all experience times when we put too much confidence in friendships, financial stability or a myriad of other second-string support ideals.

I love the message in Romans chapter eight, “Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it  mean He no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death?… No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:35, 37-39 NLT)

This is my buttress—the only true God. He holds up my life with absolute caring, magnificent ability and with a promise that He always will… because I am (we all are) His timeless treasure.
