When I was a teenager, the Spirit instructed me to, “Shine!”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’ve often thought about what that means…. Psalm 119:105 says the Word of God is a lamp to our feet & a light to our path. That definitely relates to shining….<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Gospel of John tells us that Jesus IS the Word– and the light of the world. So, my instinct has always been that to shine is to let the Truth of God’s Word, the reflection of Jesus, radiate from the way I live. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Matthew 15:14-16 says, “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’ve seen people reach out to others to whom they didn’t have to give their time & efforts. And I’ve seen the eyes light up on the faces of the ones receiving. I’ve acknowledged the difference made in their lives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shine….<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s not something we can throw money at…. It doesn’t happen without commitment & effort. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Like a chandelier takes electricity & a flashlight takes a battery, we have to be filled with a love of God’s Word that energizes us to cast a light. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I guarantee you, the world is looking for people who are shining– for someone who can help dispell the darkness from their situations. Are we willing? To what extent will we go? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Light is a beautiful thing. It’s enticing, inspiring. But a light that shines for Christ, well that’s a shine that overpowers the deepest darkness….<\/p>\n\n\n\n
